CARING FOR AND PREWASHING YOUR NEW GLOVES

Once your gloves arrive, the first thing you should do is remove the protective plastic from the palms. The easiest way to do this is with water simply run the gloves under lukewarm water for about 60 seconds. This allows the water to seep between the latex and the plastic, making the film much easier to peel off.

Removing The Plastic

Once all the plastic has been removed from the palms, you’re ready to prewash your gloves. Run them under lukewarm water and gently squeeze them out several times this helps activate the tacky properties in the latex. Always avoid wringing the gloves or using harsh chemicals, gently squeeze them to remove excess water before drying.

PREWASHING YOUR GLOVES

After the prewash, it’s important to dry your gloves properly. The best method is to hang them indoors or place them on a no-heat boot dryer. Avoid any heat sources do not dry them in direct sunlight or in a warm environment as heat can damage the latex and reduce its performance.

DRYING YOUR GLOVES

Washing your gloves

You should wash your gloves at least once a week or every 3-5 uses to keep the latex fresh and tacky. Washing your gloves often will ensure that they last longer and will also keep them from smelling bad!

  1. Submerge the gloves in lukewarm water and gently squeeze them a few times to remove any surface dirt.

  2. Apply a quarter-sized amount of glove wash to each palm.

  3. Massage the wash thoroughly into the palms and fingers, rinsing occasionally as you go.

  4. Apply the same amount of glove wash inside each glove, then work it in and rinse.

  5. Repeat the process of massaging and rinsing until the water runs clear and no bubbles remain.

  6. Gently Squeeze the gloves gently to remove all excess water.

  7. Hang them to dry indoors, away from heat or sunlight, or place them on a no-heat boot dryer.

How to make your gloves last longer

Glove latex is meant to experience wear, so don’t worry if you notice signs of use after your first few sessions. Small nicks and abrasions from the pitch are completely normal. With proper care, your gloves will remain tacky even as the palms begin to show wear. We also recommend keeping a second pair either for training or as a backup to help extend the life of your main match gloves.

It’s important to slightly moisten your palms before playing. Latex performs best when it’s damp, giving you improved grip throughout use. We recommend keeping a water bottle with you during matches so you can re-wet your gloves as needed.

Dampen before use

Weather conditions and playing surfaces can have a big impact on your latex. Hot summers, cold winters, and hard pitches can all be tougher on your gloves, so proper care becomes even more important during these times. Looking after your gloves well will help them maintain their grip and performance for longer.

Weather/Surface

After each use, make sure you store and care for your gloves properly. Glove bags or glove envelopes are ideal for keeping them separate from the rest of your gear. If your gloves are damp, avoid leaving them in your bag overnight take them out so they can dry fully and prevent any mold from forming.

PROTECT YOUR PALMS

One of the most common areas for wear is the base of the palm. This happens when goalkeepers use their palms to brace themselves or push up from the ground. To protect your latex and slow down wear, we recommend pushing up using a closed fist instead this keeps the palm off the surface and helps your gloves last longer.
